〜くなる・〜になる
ku naru, ni naru · become ~
なる means become. い-adjectives change い to く (寒くなる); な-adjectives and nouns take に (静かになる, 先生になる).
How to form it
| い-adj → 〜く + なる | 暑くなる |
| な-adj + に + なる | きれいになる |
| Noun + に + なる | 医者になる |
How it is used
いい is irregular: よくなる, to get better.
With verbs, use 〜ようになる: 「泳げるようになりました」.
Examples

- だんだん寒くなりました。It's gradually got colder.
- 部屋がきれいになりました。The room is clean now.
- 弟は医者になりたいです。My younger brother wants to become a doctor.
- 薬を飲んで、よくなりました。I took the medicine and got better.
Common mistake
- ✗ 寒いになりました。✓ 寒くなりました。い-adjectives take 〜く before なる.
