〜せいで
sei de · because of ~ (bad result), to blame
〜せいで blames a cause for a bad result: 雨のせいで試合が中止になった, the match was cancelled because of the rain.
How to form it
| Noun + のせいで | 雨のせいで |
| Verb / い-adj (plain) + せいで | 寝坊したせいで |
| な-adj + なせいで | 不便なせいで |
How it is used
It carries blame, so it suits bad results. For good results, use 〜おかげで.
〜せいか means maybe because of: 「疲れたせいか、頭が痛い」.
Examples
