山あいの 小さな 農家が、五年前から 野菜の 直売所を 開いて いる。市場に 出すと、形の そろわない 野菜は 安く 買いたたかれる。味は 変わらないのに、である。
直売所では、曲がった きゅうりも まっすぐな ものと 同じ 値段で 売る。最初は 売れ残るのではと 心配したが、事情を 書いた 紙を そえた ところ、かえって よく 売れる ように なった。
今では 遠くから 買いに 来る 客も いる。「見た目より 味」という 考えが、少しずつ 広がって いるのかも しれない。
