本文 · Passage
子どもの ころ、わたしは 祖母の 家の 庭に ある 大きな 木が 好きだった。夏は すずしい かげを つくり、秋には 赤い 実を つけた。ある 年、台風で その 木の 太い えだが 折れて しまった。わたしは 泣いたが、祖母は しずかに 言った。「木は 折れた ところから、また 新しい えだを のばすのよ」と。実際、次の 年、折れた あとから 小さな 芽が いくつも 出て きた。人も 同じだと、いま に なって 思う。つらい 出来事で 何かを 失っても、そこから 新しい 何かが 育つ。大切なのは、折れた ことを なげく ことではなく、また のびようと する 力を 信じる ことなのだ。
