知識をたくさんもつことと、かしこいことは、必ずしも同じではない。試験のためにおぼえた知識は、使う場面を失えば、やがてわすれられていく。本当の学びとは、おぼえた事がらを、まだ出会ったことのない問題にあてはめ、自分の頭で考え直せる状態にすることだ。知識は、材料にすぎない。それをどう組み合わせ、どう生かすかを知ってはじめて、学びは力になる。
