「自分らしく生きる」という言葉が、もてはやされて久しい。自分の意思を大切にし、他人にながされない生き方は、たしかに美しい。しかし、それがいきすぎると、「自分さえよければよい」という考えにおちいる危険がある。人は一人では生きられない。私たちの「自分らしさ」もまた、他者とのかかわりの中でこそ、形づくられ、みがかれていくものだ。真の自立とは、他者を切りすてることではなく、支え合いながら、なお自分を見失わないことなのではないだろうか。
