〜につれて

ni tsurete · as ~ (changes), ~ also changes

〜につれて links two gradual changes: 年をとるにつれて、体が弱くなる, as you get older, your body gets weaker.

How to form it

V-dictionary + につれて	近づくにつれて
Noun + につれて	時間がたつにつれて

Both halves are changes over time, not one-off events.

〜にしたがって and 〜とともに are close in meaning and more formal.

試験が近づくにつれて、緊張してきました。As the exam drew nearer, I got more nervous.

町が大きくなるにつれて、緑が減った。As the town grew, the green spaces shrank.
