How to form it

る-verbs: る → て食べる → 食べて
う, つ, る → って待つ → 待って
む, ぶ, ぬ → んで飲む → 飲んで

す → して話す → 話して
Irregular行く → 行って・する → して・来る → 来て

How it is used

The tense comes only at the end of the sentence: 「昨日は買い物をして、映画を見ました」.

The て-form is the base for many patterns on this list: 〜てください, 〜ている, 〜てから, 〜てもいい.
