A junior high school changed its uniform to a design shared by boys and girls. Students choose freely among the jacket, trousers and skirt.
Behind the decision was a long-standing wish, for reasons of cold and ease of movement, to be able to wear trousers. It was raised not as a matter of gender but as a matter of daily life.
After introduction, about 30% of girls chose trousers. The school says, 'What matters is not the number but being able to choose.'
