〜のが好き
no ga suki · like doing ~
To like an activity, turn the verb into a noun with の: 本を読むのが好きです, I like reading books.
How to form it
| V-dictionary + のが好き | 歌うのが好き |
| V-dictionary + のが上手 | 泳ぐのが上手 |
| V-dictionary + のが嫌い | 走るのが嫌い |
How it is used
の makes a verb phrase work like a noun. こと can do the same job, but with 好き, の sounds more natural.
上手 and 下手 work the same way: 「絵をかくのが上手です」.
Examples

My room is on the fifth floor of a block of flats. It has two windows and is very bright. From the east window you can see a school. From the south window you can see a small park and, beyond it, mountains. I like drinking coffee in the morning while looking at the mountains.
Q: What does this person like doing in the morning? — Drinking coffee while looking at the mountains.
