〜ので
node · because, since
〜ので gives a reason in a soft, objective way, so it suits polite explanations: 雨なので、中止です.

How it is used
ので sounds less pushy than から, which makes it the natural choice for apologies and requests: 「頭が痛いので、早退してもいいですか」.
Nouns and な-adjectives need な: 「暇なので」, 「休みなので」.
Examples

- 雨なので、試合は中止です。The match is cancelled because of the rain.
- 熱があるので、今日は休みます。I have a fever, so I'll take today off.
- 道が込んでいたので、遅れました。The roads were busy, so I was late.
- 明日は早いので、もう寝ます。I have an early start tomorrow, so I'm going to bed.

Q: Why did this person buy an umbrella? — Because they didn't have one.
