〜とおりに・〜どおり
toori ni, doori · just as ~, in accordance with ~
〜とおりに means exactly as: 説明書のとおりに作る, make it just as the instructions say. After a noun it becomes 〜どおり: 予定どおり, as planned.
How to form it

| Noun + どおり(に) | 予定どおり |
How it is used
The verb tense shows order: 「先生が言ったとおりに」 (as the teacher said earlier), 「私が言うとおりに」 (as I say now).
Common set phrases: 予定どおり (as scheduled), 思ったとおり (just as I thought), いつもどおり (as usual).
Examples

- 説明書のとおりに組み立てました。I assembled it following the instructions.
- 電車は予定どおりに着きました。The train arrived on schedule.
- 思ったとおり、彼は来なかった。Just as I thought, he didn't come.
