よ・ね

yo, ne · you know (よ); isn't it? right? (ね)

At the end of a sentence, ね looks for agreement (isn't it?) and よ tells the listener something new (I'm telling you).

How to form it

Sentence + ねいい天気ですね。
Sentence + よその店は高いですよ。

How it is used

Use ね when you expect the listener knows or agrees; use よ when you are giving them information they may not have.

よね together checks a fact you are fairly sure of: 「明日は休みですよね」, tomorrow is a day off, right?

Examples

Tap a kanji for its reading.
