ya · and (among others)

や lists examples from a longer set (A, B and so on), while と lists everything.

How to form it

Noun + や + Noun (+ など)本やノートなど

How it is used

Add など at the end to make the "and so on" explicit: 「りんごやバナナなどを買いました」.

や joins nouns only. To list actions as examples, use 〜たり〜たりする.
